Review of the Hilton in Dahab, Red Sea, Egypt
Dahab is home to the famous Blue Hole Dive, so many divers come here. In the past Dahab had a hippy atmosphere and there is still a relaxed and laid back feel to this Red Sea costal resort.
In
fact, some friends questioned whether we really wanted to go to the Hilton
in Dahab since the ethos of the place doesn't match the rest of the resort.
After a week I am pleased to report that Dahab is able to accommodate both
my taste for five star luxury and the kids who loved the disheveled hippy-esque
feel of the resort, further round the bay.
Dahab is all about the water and there is a lot of wonderful coral just offshore. As a result the sea life is pretty much perfect for snorkellers like my wife and divers like me and the kids.
The staff at the Hilton organized the diving to The Ras Mohammed marine reserve and we had wonderful adventures with sharks, turtles, dolphins and about a billion different fish.
The Hilton at Dahab is a great place to stay, offering five star style accommodation, food and service. We loved the breakfasts which really set us up for the day and the evening meals were lovely. Having said that, do try the small seafront cafes on the beach in town. An evening lounging around eating, drinking and watching the moon rise over the water is what Dahab is really all about.
