Reviews of the Jolly Beach Resort, Antigua

My boyfriend and I went to Antigua last Aug/Sept. Well we had such a great time there we're off again this year hopefully. The Jolly Beach Resort was relaxing and enjoyable from start to finish I haven't laughed so much in years. The food, the entertainment was brill and the staff ~ Ann-marie, Maria, Terry, Theo, Charlie, Janice, Ivan are just a few we made good friends with who made sure we were enjoying our selves. Personally we can't wait to get back and see all our friends.

The Jolly Beach sits on the west coast of the island of Antigua, just about 10 miles from the airport and less to St, John's town.

The first thing that struck us was the stupid 6 foot high windmill at the enterance. It makes the place look like a crazy golf course rather than a premier vacation resort.

Having said that, the rest of the decor has a charming feel. A little naff in places but its all low-rise buildings and exotic flora outside the bedroom window so the overall impression is that it is ...nice.

According to the brochure, the Jolly Beach Resort boasts the "longest white sand beach on the Island and the biggest free-form Fantasy Pool: 8,000 sq. ft., 500,000 gallons, featuring a Swim-up Bar, Jacuzzi, Volleyball and Bubbler Islands. The Wedding Arbour Chapel overlooks a cascading waterfall, which flows into the Jacuzzi and Fantasy Pool."

Now imagine if you will the problem with swimming and ducking and diving and messing about in the water while some dumb couple are getting married just above you. Nobody wants to mess up someone elses weddings so once a day we all had to be quiet while a ceremony took place. I found this a minor point, but one worth baring in mind, particularly if you are taking loud boisterous kids with you to Antigua.

There are five restaurants at the jolly beach so you will have no problems with menu fatigue.
