Review of El Senador.
The El Senador at Cayo Coco on Cuba is listed as a four star resort, but actually equates to no higher than three stars in the USA or Canada.
The transfer from the airport was just 15 minutes and the welcome from the staff was friendly, but the place itself seems to be slowly decaying from neglect by the owners.
There are 2 swimming pools and a great beach, so if the price is right and you are simply looking for a base you will be fine here. However if you want a bit of pampering and food that is something other than dull (vegetarian options were very limited), look elsewhere.
Cuba is at a crossroads. El Presidente isn't getting any younger and there is an inevitability to the changes that will come. The old cars will someday be replaced and the 'we make our own fun' culture will be drowned under the weight of consumerism.
El Senadormay not be the best place I ever stayed at, bt ot let this review put you off Cuba. This is a country you should visit, and soon.
