The Coventry Canal was once part of the industrial heart of england, ferrying goods that powered the victorian age from Coventry up to Tamworth.
These days there is nothing but leisure traffic on the canal, so when you hire a 4 berth or 6 berth narrowboat you will find everyone else on the river is there to have fun, the same as you. This is important because it means you can make friends very easily on the canal.
Whether you head north from Alvecote marina on a short trip up toward Fradley Junction and the excellent Swan Inn or south down to Coventry, you will find the Coventry canal provides nature, landscape, pubs apenty, a few locks to work up a sweat upon and most of all, bags and bags of tranquility.
As you go throught the town, you can leave the canal and explore everything from Castles cathedrals, shops to ski slopes, wildlife parks to wining and dining in fine restaurants. The midlands are sometimes forgotten as a tourist destination, but a canal boat holiday on the Coventry canal will show you just how much the region hhas to offer.
