The Queensberry Hotel, Bath, England
A surprise hit.
Just off the famous Circus in the middle of Bath and tucked away tidily in a quiet residential street, the Queensberry Hotel is a real find. If you are looking for hotels in Bath you certainly could do much worse.
The location is great for exploring this wonderful Georgian city, certainly one of the must-see places for visitors to England. The rooms at the Queensberry Hotel are all modern and upholstered in plain but sumtious fabrics, which made us feel as if everything was there just to make us feel good. This decor also highlights the beauty of the georgian building itself. We fell in love with the city of Bath and the Queensberry Hotel at the same time.
However, the real extra was the fantastic restaurant (the olive tree) downstairs which offered some truly inspired dishes and very attentive service in a restaurant with the same classy decor as the rooms upstairs.
The price we paid was less than a third being charged by london hotels of a similar quality so this allowed us go a bit mad on the shopping.
Bath has great shops and so much to see, from Roman luxury to Georgian elegance,
and it makes a great base for exploring some spectacular countryside too.
Don't miss the eponymous beautifully preserved Roman Baths and Georgian Pump
Room. You can taste a glass of foul sulphourous water for fifty pence, but
why anybody would want to is a mystery that the local businesses are happy
to keep to themselves. The museum at the baths is now one of England's finest
Roaman Museums witha partucularly fine display of house decorative styles
from Roman times.
