Kalives Beach Hotel, Crete Review
Kalives Beach Hotel is the only large-ish hotel in Kalives, and has a great location on the seafront. However, the sand is a bit stony and a little to the east the beach gets much more sandy.
The staff were very friendly and the rooms were clean although the decor was nothing to write home about. Although the Kalives Beach Hotel is listed 4 star, in my opinion it's really only 3 star standard at best.
For example, the advertised gym was horrible and the equipment was ancient. However there were three pools and they were always kept clean.
The food was uninspired and laking any authenticity, so I cannot advise you to eat in the Kalives Beach Hotel. For that matter, with one noteable exception I cannot advise you to eat in Kalives at all.
If you rent a car, you can quickly drive to Chania in the evenings, because Kalives shuts early and there is nothing to do here. In Chania there are good restaurants, bars, and a buzzing (but not rowdy or downmarket) nightlife.
