Afandou, Rhodes, Greece Reviews

Afandou has the longest beach on the island of Rhodes which is a good reason to come to this resort. You will not feel crowded on Afandou, even in peak season. There are many German and Eastern Europeans who particularly like coming to Afandou. Brits make up the main group of visitors.

There are rentable Sun beds, Beach umbrellas, Snack Bars, Fish Tavernas on the beach itself with local restaurants serving the usual mix of Greek and 'international' food.

The water is clean and a great temperature for swimming throughout most of the year except winter. In fact, because of the sheltered south facing bay the temperature in afandou averages 2 degrees hotter than in Rhodes town.

Afandou has good bus connections to Rhodes and Lindos (as well as Faliraki if you are looking for uninhibited nightlife). Afandou is less typically greek than other resorts on the island, but is pleasant and well looked after. The eastern european visitors are particularly well caterred for and everyone speaks russian, german and english... and greek.

I went to Afandou and found it to be a bit to developed for my taste. Yes the beach was good and JB is right that it never gets too crowded, but the food in the restaurants and hotels reminded me more of Minsk than the Med. It was all russian sup with dumplings. The tavernas that did seafood were a big dissapointment to me
