Haraki Reviews

Haraki (also written as Charaki) is a small and quiet fishing village where you can get away from it all

It is less than an hour's drive from the airport but Haraki seems a world away. The long track from the coast road leads you down to a flat beach with low rise houses strung along a peaceful bay.

The whole point of coming to Haraki is that it is yet to be totally subsumed by tourism. There are real fishermen on real fishing boats here.

Feracalos castle ruins are just a short walk away and from up here, the only noise is the clanking of goat bells. You can look out over the ocean or see the white walls of lindos town shining in the distance.

In the evening Haraki's few restaurants serve a mix of cheap tourist food and authentic greek cuisine.

At the end of the bay the fish restaurant is a real discovery. We went at the weekend and found it was packed with greeks. It seems the place is now recognised as one of the finest fish restaurants in the Dodecanese.

Overall, Haraki is a great holiday resort for couples and people looking for peace and quiet in a less developed location on the Island of Rhodes.

Excursions we took included visits to Lindos, Petaloudes (the valley of the butterflies) and of course, Rhodes town itself which is magnificent.
