Kallithea Reviews

Kallithea (Kalithea) is a beach resort only 10 minutes from Rhodes Town on the island of Rhodes in Greece so the location is spot on. We were glad we had chosen somewhere on the south of the island because on the northern coast you get almost permanent winds blowing in your face.

Originally built as a health spa in the 1920's there are some great old buildings to explore near the top of the hill at Kalithea.

The hotels here are all a little more upmarket than many others on Rhodes and other islands around Greece. The Kalithea Mare Palace and Kallithea Paradise Village are both well recommended. We thought that the Paradise Village would be particularly suitable for a family holiday and were not disappointed.

Kallithea is also the only spot on the island of Rhodes where you can go scuba diving. The bay is shallow which makes for easy shore entries.

With sunbeds and parasols for hire on the rocky waters edge, Kalithea is probably the best spot on the island and this was the best place for swimming, snorkelling, and diving. However, there is no great sandy beach at Kalithea. The north of the island or Mainland Greece is much better if sandy beaches are what you are after.

In Summer 2005 we had 3 reports of standards at the Sun and Sky Hotel giving poor value for money. The complaints raised were about poor food quality and lack of cleanliness.
