Italy
great cities to visit in Italy:
Perugia
Perugia sits perched on a high hill overlooking the high Tiber Valley.
Perugia has a very long history, inhabited ever since prehistoric times; and was an important per-Roman citty when ruled by the Etruscans,
The heart of Perugia is the Piazza IV Novembre wit the Fontana Maggiore; a beautiful medieval fountain from the second half of the 12th century. To one side the Palazzo dei Priori houses a wonderful art gallery The Guild of Merchants rooms while opposite the Cathedral of San Lorenzo has stood since the 1400s.
After visiting these wonderful buildings, do as the locals do, buy an ice cream and wander slowly down to view the etruscan ruins at the other end of the 'swimming pool'.
Eating in Perigia
Perugia hosts a chocolate festival in October of every year. The city is famous for chocolate, because of the local firm, Perugina, whose Baci (kisses) are now sold all over the world.
There is a great University in Perugia (well actually two universities) and so the city's student population is well catered for. A fantastic range of pizzerias and tratorias is the net result.

Olive Oils, Truffles and other Mushrooms, Asparagus and pasta (of course).
