Food in Rome
Street Pizzas are often a bit of a dissapointment, but pizzerias in less touristy locations will be a revelation to you.
Then there is the real 'local food'. the area around Rome is of volcanic origin and is full of mineral deposits. The roman vegetables benefit from this rich mix and locally grown celery, artichokes, peas, broad beans and salad feature heavily in Roman cuisine. The "abbacchio" is the most famous lamb dish in the region and of course "pancetta" (a sort of bacon) finds its way into all manner of dishes.
Roman People
The tourists have been arriving for hundreds of years, so forgive the Romans for not being particularly interested in you as an individual. They are a little aloof but after a while they warm to guests and become the most hospitable of hosts.
Driving in Rome
Don't drive in Rome. I repeat; don't drive in Rome. Also avoid jaywalking. I don't know if it illeagal or not, but it is very dangerous.
