Amsterdam
What a city! in the 1700s Dr Johnson said "If you are tired of London, you are tired of Life". Three hundred years later he would have packed his bag, got on the Eurostar and kicked the arse out of a week in Hamsterjam.
Nowhere else in Europe is the mix of high and low culture so evident. During the day Amsterdam is a tranquil beautiful cultured and romantic city. By night it is a lot better than that!

If you ever wanted to party like its 1999 then Amsterdam is the place to be.
From the laid back vibe in the supperclub to the full on sensory assult of the Rossebuurt there is something for eveyone.
I love the juxtapositions of policemen chatting to dope smokers, prostitutes chatting to each other outside the 14th Century gothic Oudekerk and everyone getting along.
There is so much to see and do in Amsterdam. We particularly enjoyed a smoke at a coffee house followed by a wander round the rijksmuseum and then an afternoon spent putting the world to rights in the lovely De Prins brown bar where they sell amazing beers in a lovely atmosphere.
