Brighton is the most popular resort on the English South Coast and only 50 miles from London. The Grand Pier (and the ruins of the old west pier jut out into the english channel while beneath them, people sit on the pebbly beach or explore the shopping and hedonism the Brighton is famous for.
There are great restaurants in Brighton (noteably Terre a Tere, arguably the best vegetarian restaurant in the country) as well as some very popular nightclubs.
