Beautiful Luxor can probably lay claim to be the world's oldest tourist resort. This town has been inviting (fleecing and robbing) tourists for quite a lot more than 2000 years. The ancient Romans took holidays here to take a look at the ancient ruins and this is still the main reason for visiting. A faluca ride up the nile, a balloon ride over the desert, tea in the winter palace and plenty of other delights await you, but the temple complex of Karnak is something you will hold in your hearts forever. A magnificent, majestic awe-inspiring series of temples and statues. Then on the western side of the river you can retrace the steps of Howard Carter and discover the Valley of the Kings for yourselves.
