Windsor is home to the British Royal family and a great place to visit on vacation. There is plenty to see and do, do an overnight stop is best, although a day trip out from London is also perfectly acceptable. The Great Park features some of England's oldest oak trees and lovely scenery. The river Thames flows through town, making this an ideal spot for a bit of boating. All sizes of boat can be hired in Windsor from tiny rowboats to large river cruisers.
The castle is naturally Windsor's top attraction and you really should give yourself at least 3 hours to enjoy it fully. Then there is the world famous Eton college, to say nothing of the house where Shakespeare wrote "The merry wives of Windsor", Sir Christopher Wrens residence, antique shops, boutiques and a vast array of restaurants.
