Gromitz

Germany, Schleswig Holstein, Gromitz

A lovely and slightly sophisticated resort on Schleswig Holstein's baltic coast has attracted Germans for decades. The sand is soft and golden and sitting in a rented strandkorb (a wickerwork sunbed, shade and storage combo)on the beach here can be just as wonderful as the best med resorts.

When the weather falters, there is a large adventure swimming pool with a powerful wave machine, plus a host of attractions along the 4km boardwalk.

Accomodation in Gromitz is plentiful and child friendly. Altogether, this resort is a bit of a hidden gem. It might not have the snob appeal of Germany's north sea resorts such as Kampen and Westerland on the island of Sylt, but Gromitz is an altogether jollier experience. In addition, the weather and sea temperatures on this side of the country are generally far better than on the west.

Germany is great for holidays

I disagree with Rolf. I have been to germany many times and love the atmosphere down south, the black forest is amazing. In the north there is so much to see and do. Germany is great.
